Bervie bed and breakfast is located in Keel, Achill Island. It is situated on the south facing beach at Keel Strand and has stunning unbroken views across kilometers of unpolluted golden sand, overlooking the majestic Cathedral Cliffs of Minaun.
Bervie was originally a Long House pre 1820's then a Coast Guard Station from 1821 until 1862, after that a home and headquarters for a salmon fishing industry until 1928 . Bervie retains much of the atmosphere of days gone by with 14 ensuite rooms consisting of doubles, twins, family and single rooms many with sea view aspects. On the premises there is a seaside garden. There is a bicycle and surf board shed, free parking and is dog friendly.
A lá Carte dinner is served each night in the dining room with views over Clew Bay with its Islands and the Minaun Cliffs. Afternoon tea with homemade scones, jam and cream is served in the sun lounge.
Guests are well catered for in pursuits of the outdoor variety, then relax, read a book, browse the walls hung with paintings by artists who have stayed within the Bervie over the years or just shoot the breeze. Outside the door see lovely Keel Beach and go for a leisurely or energetic walk before breakfast or dinner. There is a 9-hole golf course nearby, as well as surfing, wind and kite surfing, paragliding, kayaking, paddle boarding, pony trekking and hill walking.
Places to visit locally include the Deserted Village, Megalithic Tomb, Achill Secret Garden, Art Galleries, Achill Island Pottery, where pottery indigenous to the Island can be savoured with the eyes and purchased. There is a craft shop, café, a pub or two, clothing and surf shop and more of each within easy distance.
Take a sightseeing drive to Keem Bay on the western part of the Island or take the Atlantic Drive and on to the top on the Minaun Cliffs for a spectacular panoramic view.
