One of Ireland's largest and longest running family festivals connecting the global Irish community since 1959 through the annual selection of a Rose of Tralee.
The Rose of Tralee International Festival is one of Ireland's largest & longest running family festivals connecting the global Irish community since 1959 through the annual selection of a Rose of Tralee.
The heart of the Rose of Tralee International Festival is the selection of the Rose of Tralee - a woman so 'lovely & fair as the Rose of the summer' who will act as an Ambassador for Tralee for the year. The event brings young women of Irish descent and origin to Co. Kerry for a global celebration of Irish culture. It is a massive party for all the family as the festival also includes street entertainment, carnival, live concerts, theatre, circus, markets, funfair, fireworks and the internationally renowned Rose Parade.
The Rose of Tralee International Festival is Ireland's annual Gathering since 1959 and it is estimated that well over five million people have been to the festival during the past 54 years.
Televised in Ireland and streamed online around the world, the Rose of Tralee International Festival is more than a two-night television show but the TV programme, hosted by Dáithí Ó Sé, plays a key role in attracting people to the live events in Tralee town centre each year. A massive audience of 810,000 people tuned in to RTÉ to see Texas Rose Haley O'Sullivan being crowned as the 2013 Rose of Tralee. Few festivals in the world that ties its diaspora together in the way that the Rose of Tralee International Festival does. Fun lovers from around the world are invited to visit Tralee in August to enjoy 400 hours of entertainment.
The festival dome is accessible to wheel chair users.
