Ireland in Fall

Powerscourt Waterfall, County Wicklow

All you need to know to take on Ireland this fall...

Nothing comes close to being in Ireland in the fall. Where 40 shades of green break out into 400 shades of orange, and the crisp air and blue skies provide the perfect backdrop for exploring some of Ireland’s most epic cities. Roam the interactive Titanic Belfast exhibition at the exact dock the doomed ship was made, wander the bohemian streets of Galway or experience the many cultural celebrations during festival season.

One of the great things about Ireland’s cities is how compact they are. Take Dublin, where Temple Bar (Dublin’s cultural quarter and nightlife hotspot) is just a stone’s throw from the best-known attractions like the Guinness Storehouse, Phoenix Park and the River Liffey. Or Galway, with its traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and modern venues all within walking distance of each other.

Three to see

Historic breweries and innovative new restaurants are both on the menu in Ireland, too. Distilleries like Bushmills in County Antrim, Kilbeggan in County Westmeath and the acclaimed Guinness Storehouse in Dublin all have great guided tours – ending with some free tastings, of course! Then there’s the food. From the quays of Galway to buzzing streets of Belfast and Dublin, there are countless top-notch restaurants renowned for combining fresh, local produce with a modern flair. Sample some fresh-off-the-boat seafood or traditional cuisine with a twist on a crisp evening.

Much like the food scene, nightlife in Ireland is incredibly diverse. One night you could be warming up beside an open fire in a traditional pub surrounded by old-world relics and Irish music. The next, ordering cocktails in a chic drinking den like the Liquor Rooms in Dublin or Café Vaudeville in Belfast. If nightclubs are what you’re after then check out Howl at the Moon (Dublin), Halo (Galway) and Thompsons Garage (Belfast).
