The Claddagh Arts Centre is a one stop shop for giftware, bog oak, stone and antiques with a made to order service and garden design and construction service. Tea and coffee also available.
The Claddagh Arts Centre is set to bring new life to the now mainly residential Claddagh village. Everything on sale is guaranteed Irish from the bog oak pieces, stone, wood and glass to the clothing, antiques and headstones. There is a mix of old and new there, for example the centre has the Claddagh washing machine stone on show where the women of the Claddagh would come approximately 200 years ago to communally wash their clothes. This stone piece is even shaped like the Claddagh ring. All of the products are unique, for example the only lanterns made from Connemara marble are for sale and some of the bog oak pieces date back 7,000 years. Giftware includes branded cups, candles, ties, caps, baby clothes, jugs, worry stones, rosary beads, painted plates, photographs of old Galway and paintings.
The Claddagh Arts Centre also offers a garden design and construction service tailored to the customer’s needs as well as creating unique pieces suiting the customer’s brief. It has an extensive network of craftspeople so if there is something specific that is not available in the shop it is likely that it can be sourced for the customer.
The centre is situated in beautifully landscaped gardens with picnic tables and tea and coffee are sold for €1, half of which goes to charity. Customers are encouraged to come and have a chat and learn a little about Galway. For tourists or those visiting from overseas there will soon be a shipping service available and plans exist to begin making the Claddagh ring on site which would make the Claddagh Arts Centre the only place where you can buy a Claddagh ring in the Claddagh itself.
The Claddagh Arts Centre is also making its space available free of charge to any organization or musician wishing to host an event or small concert and are dedicated to fostering local talent.
The centre is open Monday to Saturday from 12-6pm but may also be contacted by phone/face book/twitter/email after hours. The site has public toilets and is completely wheelchair accessible.
Please come and visit the centre for a warm welcome and one of a kind products.
