As this is the fourth stop on the famous Wicklow Way walk, Glendalough Hostel has become one of our most popular hostels. The county of Wicklow, which is just south of Dublin is known as “The Garden of Ireland” because of the broad spectrum of greens and lush flora you’ll see all around you. The hostel is actually right next to the Wicklow National Park as the world famous Monastic Site with the historic Round Tower and the area is ideal for fishing, rock climbing, and pony-trekking and hiking.
Glendalough (from the Gaelige - Gleann dá Loch) translates to the “Valley/Glen of the two lakes' and this is why there are two different types of spelling for the hostel’s name – Glendalough and Glendaloch! The Glendalough area has a constant flow of tourists who come to enjoy its spectacular scenery, rich history, archaeology and abundant wildlife.
You’ll be glad to hear that Glendalough is only an hour and half drive from Dublin so it’s easy to reach, but you won’t want to leave. A stay in Glendalough Hostel is a great way to forget about the hassle of daily life, you can just relax and enjoy the picturesque sights.
