If you are looking for an entertaining and educational way to spend a day the multi-award winning Ulster Folk and Transport Museum will bring you back to the good old days in all their glory, or for a whistle stop tour of the region’s history check out the North Down Museum.
Another must see is the fishing village of Groomsport. Just east of Bangor on the south shore of Belfast Lough, Groomsport is home to Cockle Row Cottages; two lovingly restored fishermen’s cottages that come alive at the weekends with free family entertainment (open
seasonally).
If you’re still looking for more, visit one of North Downs other historical attractions that boast century’s worth of history, like the 13th Century Priory in Holywood or the 15th Century Bangor Abbey which pays homage to its association with St. Columbanus and St. Comgall.
