North Tipperary Wheelers is a cycling club based in Nenagh since 1987 and is open to welcoming new members or if you’re holidaying in the area why not join one of the Sunday morning club spins, which leave from Kenyon Street Car Park, Nenagh at 9am.
North Tipperary Wheelers is a leisure cycling club based in Nenagh since 1987. They cater for every aspect of the sport from road cycling, road racing & mountain biking. The club is always open to welcoming new members or if you are holidaying in the area why not join in on one of the Sunday morning club spins, which leave from Kenyon Street Car Park, Nenagh at 9am. Every level of cyclist is catered for and welcome to join in.
You can join one of the three groups which cater for different abilities:
“Green” group that caters for beginners/leisure cyclists with an average speed held between 20-24kph.
“Orange” group that caters for intermediate level with an average speed held between 25-27kph.
Finally, the “Red” group with a speed of 28+kph for the more experienced cyclists.
All you have to do is:
• Contact the club to be sure your level can be catered for on the day you wish to join one of the spins.
• Bring your own racing bike and helmet.
• Or if you require to hire a bike in our area contact the club by email in advance and pending availability, bike and helmet hire may be able to be arranged from; J. Moynan & Co. Ltd, Nenagh.
The club also holds club races for members during the summer on a Thursday evening, with details of routes, type of event etc. published on the club website weekly.
The club also hosts the country's toughest one-day spring classic race in April, the Gas Networks Ireland Visit Nenagh Classic and also one of the major annual cycling tours on the Irish Leisure cycling calendar, The Tour of Lough Derg, which takes place in May each year.
