On an exhilarating road-trip around the island of Ireland, TV and radio presenter Angela Scanlon, and her dad Phelim, toured Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coastal Route, where picture-perfect villages nestle into lush hillsides, ruined castles teeter on cliff edges, and the ever-present crash of the waves is the soundtrack to this legendary coastline.

Setting off from Belfast for their Northern Ireland adventure, Angela and Phelim’s journey had a thrilling start at the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, a 100 foot high bridge built over 250 years ago for fisherman to transport their catch from sea to land. Nowadays, it is one of the most popular attractions the island has to offer, with incredible views suspended over the coast.

On to Dunluce Castle, Angela and Phelim stopped-off to see this historic landmark and more awe-inspiring views over the coast. Stories aplenty are associated with this castle, but its most popular legend tells the story of a terrible storm that collapsed the kitchen into the sea, taking all the guests and cooks with it! Next-up was a step-back-in-time to Derry-Londonderry as they learned about the incredible history of this “walled city”. Derry-Londonderry is the only fully intact walled city in Ireland and one of the few remaining fully intact walled cities in Europe. Here is home to incredible food, with great local produce, renowned restaurants and legendary food festivals. In true fashion, Angela and Phelim finished their tour of the city with an Irish Coffee workshop – a must when visiting anywhere on the island!

Their exploration of Northern Ireland ended with a detour off the Causeway Coastal Route to Finn Lough Resort, where they tired their legs on a bike ride around its magnificent lakes, followed by a retreat to the famous Bubble Domes – an accommodation that has to be seen to be believed!

Experience the magic for yourself on a road trip along the Causeway Coastal Route of Northern Ireland.
