Dancing in Dublin

Looking for a Dublin night out with a difference? You've found it.

The Turk's Head, Temple Bar, Dublin
The Turk's Head, Temple Bar, Dublin

We love our traditional Irish music, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know how to shake our stuff to a different beat. So dust off those dancing shoes – here are five of the most fun multi-cultural nights in the city.

Brazilian Party at the Mercantile

If it’s sizzling South American samba you’re after, look no further than the Mercantile on Dame Street! Every second Saturday night, the venue’s downstairs bar welcomes the excellent DJ Fernando, who plays the best in Brazilian music right into the wee hours.

Admission: Free.

Roller Disco

Fancy releasing your inner Brooklyn diva? Roller disco is one of the most fun ways to spend an evening, whether or not you choose to don those gold hotpants and ‘I ♡ NY’ t-shirt! Spin Roller Skating is located on the Longmile Road (conveniently served by the Red Luas line) and opens until 10.30pm. Those with a soft spot for electro synth pop should make sure to head to ‘80s night (Wednesdays), though if you prefer straight-up chart hits, Thursday is the night for you!

Admission €15.

The Melting Pot in the Mezz

Still haven’t found what you’re looking for? Melting Pot at the Mezz will surely satisfy your every dance need! Each Thursday, this city-centre venue welcomes an eclectic host of DJs who spin reggae, Afro-Caribbean, hip-hop, dancehall, soca and zouk, to name but a few. What’s more, a live West-African drumming session takes place after 11.30pm, with some great drinks promotions also running on the night.

Admission: Free.

Lindy Hop at the Turk’s Head

One of the most popular dance forms at the moment, Lindy Hop was born in Harlem, New York in the 1920s, and is a LOT of fun to do! Jamie and Clare Furler, the dancers behind Boogie Beat Swing in Dublin, host ‘Route 66 Swing Social Night’ in the Turk’s Head, Parliament Street, every Wednesday. The night kicks off with a lesson from 8pm – 8.45pm, which then leads into a fun night with swing DJs giving you the opportunity to practise your new skills on the dancefloor!

Admission: €6, and you don’t need to book in advance.
