Not typically known for wine making, Ireland is quickly making a mark for itself as a wine producing country. Most vineyards can be found around Cork and the southwest of the island. Whites such as sauvignon blanc are a popular product as well as reds like cabernet. There are few grapes that can survive the climate, but as seasons progress wine growers are learning more tricks to help their grapes thrive. Although most vineyards are small and only produce a few hundred bottles a year, there are quite a few that are growing in both size and popularity.
