Game of Thrones® – rooted in Northern Ireland

Play

Discover how one of the most iconic Game of Thrones® filming locations is embedded in Northern Irish history.

In January 2016, the Game of Thrones® filming location known as the Dark Hedges, or Kingsroad to the people of Westeros, was battered by storm Gertrude.

We’ve used the wood from two trees that fell that day and carved them into 10 intricately designed pub doors, each one telling the story of an episode in Game of Thrones® season 6.

From Cairncastle to the Glens of Antrim, via the Dark Hedges and Cushendun Caves, each door is within reach of a different filming location in Northern Ireland. This trail around Game of Thrones® Territory is a piece of cultural heritage in the making.

The doors are on display in different pubs, cafés and inns and work together to create a unique exhibition of Season 6, across Northern Ireland. Each one is situated near an iconic filming location – so if you come across a door, you’ll know you’re in Game of Thrones® territory.
