The Dower House

The Dower House Gardens are 19th century gardens surrounding an 18th century house with lawns, magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons and wisteria. Dower House is located in Ashford, County Wicklow.
Dower House gardens came into existence during the 19th century and have a wide variety of flowers including Magnolia Soulangeana ‘Alba’, Camellia Japonica and Rhododendron Arboreum. There are also a number of specimen mature trees, including a fine Chilean myrtle, Luma Apiculata planted c. 1880 and believed to have come from Woodstock in County Kilkenny.
At Dower House Gardens there is also a wild flower meadow for visitors to enjoy as well as a white garden which is hailed as one of Wicklow’s most impressive gardens.
There is parking and parts of the garden are accessible to wheelchairs. No dogs, picnics or prams are allowed and children must be supervised.
