The Summer School is unique in its capacity to combine the landscape and history of Sligo with a celebration of Yeats works and the works of contemporary writers, poets and visual artists.

Yeats International Summer School has been a fixture in the local, national and international arts calendar for 60 years; 2020 marks the 61st school – making it now the longest running summer school in the world.

The Summer School is unique - in its capacity to combine the landscape and history of Sligo with a celebration of Yeats works and the works of contemporary writers, poets and visual artists. The School deliberately immerses its students in Sligo, as much as in Yeats and other poets. This ensures that visitors to the School leave having seen and experienced many of the most iconic and beautiful places in this county.

It's biggest USP is that this is the only event of it's kind in the world celebrating one of the world’s greatest poets and writers – Yeats is a global poet and they are the county with the authentic connection to this writer and his work and they are the county with the longevity and reputation for knowing how to celebrate him.
