A Global Greening

Something is different about Egypt’s pyramids...and Table Mountain... and the Allianz Arena in Berlin. They’re all green. Why would that be?

Did you know the Pantone colour of this year is Emerald Green (someone should tell them about our Great green off competition).

On its website, Pantone is celebrating everything from teapots to trousers, shirts to shades, cushions to couches, but only if they’re emerald.

Then again, if it’s emerald you’re after, the best place to go is Ireland, right?

That would be a yes. But there’s some pretty good compensation if you’re not able to get here for 17 March.

Going green

This year, the world is going green. The world. Think Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the pyramids and the Sphinx at Giza in Egypt, The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Copenhagen’s Little Mermaid, Munich’s Allianz Arena or City Hall in San Francisco.

Think green.

A minty version of San Francisco’s Town Hall, complete with green puddles.

What would Hans Christian Andersen think of Copenhagen’s Little Mermaid going green?

The riddle of the Sphinx: “Love the green, but am I not usually sandy coloured?”

A green Coit Tower standing out on the San Francisco skyline.

"The Greening Tower of Pisa." Maybe they'll keep it this way all year?
