Swan Lake/Loch na hEala is a magical adaptation of one of the world’s most famous story ballets.
Swan Lake/Loch na hEala is a magical adaptation of one of the world’s most famous story ballets. Michael Keegan-Dolan's celebrated production returns to Irish stages this February at the Abbey, having won plaudits worldwide since its debut at the 2016 edition of the Dublin Theatre Festival.
Keegan-Dolan is one of Ireland’s foremost dance and theatre makers, and is the driving force behind this interpretation of Swan Lake. Gone is Tchaikovsky’s score, replaced by a musical arrangement provided by the Dublin-based group Slow Moving Clouds, who mix Irish and Scandinavian traditional music with minimalist and experimental influences.
Meanwhile, Keegan-Dolan mixes mythology and modernity in the ballet's storylines and celebrated actor Mikel Murfi leads a cast of 13 performers in a captivating combination of storytelling, song, and dance.
You’ll be spellbound by the dark and mysterious take on old folk tales in Swan Lake/Loch na hEala.
