Completely refurbished with all modern facilities, including free Wi-Fi throughout and guests on activity holidays can use our drying room free of charge. Regular music and live entertainment in-house livens up the atmosphere with traditional music most Thursdays & every Sunday. With sandy beaches on its doorstep, Downings offers something for everyone. Trá Beag located directly behind the hotel, Trá Mor with miles of golden sand, Trá na Rossán ideal for surfing and the Murder Hole "Ireland's most mysterious secret Beach". Along with ample scenic walks on natural terrain with undisturbed Flora & Fauna. Deep Sea, Tuna & Shark fishing can be arranged.

The local golf course is one of the top golf destinations in the world with two championship courses that are ranked in the Top 50 of Golf Digest Ireland’s Top 100 Courses. The Sandy Hills Links was ranked No. 11 in Golf World's Top 100 courses in Ireland List 2015. Water sports enthusiasts will not be disappointed with windsurfing, sailing, surfing, wreck diving, PADI open water diving courses, scuba diving, indoor diving, coasteering, snorkelling and sea kayaking along with adventure sessions on Downings Beach for 8 weeks during the summer. Downings is also the destination for the annual all Ireland Windsurfing competition and an annual sailing regatta.
On another sporting note, the area hosts the annual Donegal International motorsports event with special stages on the Atlantic Drive in Downings and Glen/Carrigart. For those looking for a driving experience, off-roading in customised jeeps is located only minutes from the hotel.
