Cong Hostel is situated between Lough Mask and Lough Corrib and approximately 500 metres from Cong Village in County Mayo. Lying near the shores of the Lough; nature, history and the artefacts conspire to make Cong Village a fascinating destination.
Cong Hostel is located in County Mayo near Lough Corrib. It is found in a village made famous by the 1952 film, ‘The Quiet Man’. The accommodation can sleep 80 people in its dormitory and ensuite rooms. On-site facilities include TV, mini ciema, sitting toom, kitchen and dining area, BBQ area and playground. Boats are also available for hire nearby to allow you to take a boat out on the Lough.
Rates include free Wi-Fi, use of fishing rods and viewings of ‘The Quiet Man’ and ‘Un Taxi Mauve’. Hosts Margaret and Gerry Collins also cater to different size groups and their various needs and requirements. A meeting room can be used.
Cong is a memorable village where travellers can get a taste of Hollywood as they retrace the steps taken by John Wayne and Maureen O’Hara in ‘The Quiet Man’. They can even visit the Quiet Man Cottage Museum, which provides a sort of on-set experience.
The small village and surrounding area also offer many excellent pubs and endless outdoor activities, such as walking, hill climbing, pony trekking, falconry and lake cruises.
