Handwoven by Liz Christy: inspired by Claude Monet’s painting, Liz creates a range of scarves and wraps which are beautifully handwoven and hand finished.
Monaghan craftspeople, hand weaver Liz Christy and potter Brenda McGinn have teamed up and created 'Made in Monaghan' an attraction for tourists. Liz owns Swallow Studios Art and Craft Gallery in Castleblayney and Brenda owns Busy Bee Ceramics in Mullan. Tourists can stop by both workshops and experience the life of a hand weaver and potter in rural Ireland. Both ladies want to create memories for the tourist to bring home and cherish.
At Liz's studio she will provide a weaving demonstration and there is a gift shop on site with hand crafted products from local and national artisans and craftspeople. At Brenda's workshop, you can have a go at throwing your very own pot. She will provide tea or coffee and you can purchase her pottery on site also.
They would like to raise the profile of Monaghan and establish it as a place in the north east of Ireland for tourists to visit, see something different and purchase unique hand crafted gifts. Monaghan is only 90 minutes from Dublin Airport and the same driving time from Belfast.
Batiks by Louise Loughman: Louise has developed a unique style combining her specialist area of silk painting with batik. This craft allows her to experiment fully with colour and texture thus producing very beautiful and desirable wall hangings.
