Ceol na nGlinntí is a new festival which will celebrate living tradition of music, song & dance.
Ceol na nGlinntí will be a three-day music and learning event running from 24th-26th April 2019. We will have eleven different workshops led by some of Ireland’s finest musicians, singers & dancers. We hope to capture some of the musical history of the area and create our own legacy.
We are reviving some Frank Mc Collum tinnes which our comhaltas branch have been teaching. The late Ballycastle man Frank was a past master of the Orange Lodge in Ballycastle and his musical preferences toed no cultural or political lines. Frank was a prolific composer & fiddler.
Len Graham will be talking about Frank in Ballycastle Golf club on Wed 24th as part of the festival. Len is a leading authority on Folk music in Ireland. He will be joined by some special guest artists
Over the festival we will provide a variety of events for all sections of the local community and visiting guests. We will involve local schools with the aim of introducing sean nós dancing and spreading the message that Irish music, dance & song is a shared culture.
