Ireland and the Wild Atlantic Way are renowned for its delicious seafood delights and Dk Connemara Oysters live up to this reputation. Ballinakill Bay is a perfect location to grow rich tasty oysters. Oysters feed on plankton and the various currents of the Atlantic Ocean, along side the nutritious run off from the Connemara Hills give DK Connemara oysters a rich food source, creating a beautiful meaty oyster.

Food can evoke all our senses – taste, smell, vision and feel. A tour of the DK Connemara Oyster farm truly does reach all these senses. Smell the fresh Wild Atlantic air. See the farm crew working hard in the water to grow the most perfect meaty oysters. Shuck your own oyster or take a punt at the weigh of oyster, again learning more about the work put in to create the most perfect oysters.
And of course finish your tour with a taste of a beautiful fresh oyster.

The tour lasts approximately 1 hour and goes through the whole process of how the farm brings the oysters from seeds right through to your plate. During spring tides, they run longer tours as you get to experience a seashore walk and see the different stages of growth in the water. Visitors can also enjoy the fruits of the farm as they can purchase some fresh oysters to bring home with them.

The tours are suitable for anyone aged 6 years and up and must be booked in advance. It is a truly a hands on experience as it is very much a working farm.
