As Ireland’s most intriguing food destination the Burren has a lot to offer. Themed trails and a weekly food series uncover the path your food takes from field to plate. Come along and meet the producers, dine in award-winning restaurants and learn about the fertile valleys of the Burren.
Every Monday from May to October a member of the Burren Food Trail hosts a food themed event. The weekly food series features restaurants, cafes, and pubs alongside food producers, organic gardeners, surf schools and kayak tours. Each Monday has a different theme and offers both a food and cultural experience. Come along and meet the producer who supplied the restaurant with the ingredients for last night’s dinner. Harvest the vegetables and herbs for your very own healthly picnic lunch. Come and experience life on an organic farm, feeding the pigs, gathering the eggs and absorbing the history in the soil. Event times vary see www.burren.ie/food for a full listing.
The members of the Burren Food Trail are bound by their commitment to building a sustainable future for the region. Each of the featured restaurants offers a Burren Food Trail Signature Dish to savour. Each member has achieved recognised quality awards and standards, and has also signed up to the Burren Food Trail Customer Promise: you will find staff who are knowledgeable about the regional food story, menus which state the source of local produce, information on local food events and markets as well as a commitment to maximise the use of local ingredients in all prepared food.
