The 4th Acoustic Yard Music Festival takes place from 10th - 12th May 2019 in Westport, Co. Mayo. This boutique festival is growing in stature and promises a weekend of great original music, fun and a unique friendly atmosphere.
The Acoustic Yard Music Festival returns for its fourth year between 10 - 12 May 2019, with some of Ireland’s and the world’s finest entertaining songwriters and musicians, all gathering in the beautiful town of Westport, Co.Mayo.
Acts already confirmed for this year include: The Pale, Morrissey and Marshall, Aoife Scott and Matt Owens from Noah and the Whale. The festival offers three days of concerts, workshops and free open-air daytime events.
The main venue for the festival is The Clock Tavern Restaurant in High Street, Westport, holding 2 evening concerts and also the venue for many outside free music events over the weekend. There will be workshops for songwriters and also a ukulele workshop, sponsored by the new Ukulele Orchestra in Westport called Westelele (www.westelele.ie). The final concert on Sunday night will be held in Matt Molloy's yard bar.
The Acoustic Yard Music Festival has been twice nominated for the IMRO ‘Best Small Festival of the Year’ and started life as a monthly songwriter session in Matt Molloy’s Yard Bar in Westport, Co. Mayo in February 2014. This is how The Acoustic Yard gets its name and the festival holds its closing concert every year in the iconic venue.
The festival gives new and established singer/songwriters a platform to perform their own songs and for audiences to listen to and appreciate original music in a relaxed environment. A key aim of the festival is to both help invigorate and stimulate songwriting and to supply a great weekend of entertainment.
The 3 main concerts have an entrance fee but all outdoor gigs are free. There is also a discounted Weekend Pass available.
