The Festival provides a unique high-quality arts experience with public engagement; a unique event where filmmakers and industry professionals share the same space. With Screenings, workshops, family entertainment, live music and more.
The Festival will take place in Schull, West Cork from 20th-24th May 2020.
The FFF is a major showcase for Irish and International short film production, focusing on the craft of film, held in high regard on a national and international level for many years now. The 2020 festival will focus on the ‘Collaborative Nature of the Filmmaking Process’ and this year it will run a series of seminars, forums and workshops covering, sound, cinematography, directing, composing, production, animation, scriptwriting, acting, casting etc
Also featured at the festival will be in excess of 300 short film screenings, Local Interest Films, and a World Cinema Programme focusing on Poland.
As a Short Film Festival without a Cinema, it explores alternatives in “Distributed Cinema”. It is Schull’s very own dedicated server to short films. Anyone with a smartphone, laptop or iPad can access the submitted films through Wi-Fi, anywhere on the main street of Schull during the festival. You can watch any of the past 11 years winning films and the archived workshops and Q+A's, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, in the village of Schull.
Their server is also used alongside HD media players, to screen shorts and features, in a number of smaller venues throughout the Mizen. From a bookshop, to an art gallery, numerous pubs and restaurants, The Long Island Cinema, Schull Harbour Hotel and the village hall. For 5 days at the end of May each year the town with no cinema, has 15. The names are changed outside each of the venues to The Adelph, The Plaza, The Metropole etc.
