Take a one-day tour of the Garden County.
Travel from Dublin to Bray, to visit Killruddery House & Gardens, situated south of Bray off the Greystones Road. Killruddery are the most extensive early formal gardens still in their original style surviving in Ireland. They date back to the 17th Century, and are of classic French design. Killruddery Estate is owned by the Brabazon family (the Earls of Meath)
From here travel on to Avoca Handweavers in Kilmacanogue off the N11 for Lunch, at the famous Avoca Restaurant. There is also a chance to do a spot of shopping for crafts, clothes and al sorts of handmade gifts.
From here travel on to Glendalough. This is a monastic site dating back to the 6th Century, and the centre of the Wicklow National Park area. There is a visitor centre which houses an audio-visual show & also an exhibition and there are regular tours of the monastic site. Allow a couple of hours to wander around & take in the beauty of this mystical valley. There are also craft shops and a hotel in the vicinity. Don’t miss the breathtaking scenery at the lakes, (signposted from the village).
