Located on the scenic River Shannon, this is the oldest rowing club in Limerick. Catering for not just rowing but also offering top notch chess and snooker facilities.
Shannon Rowing Club is based on Sarfield Bridge, Limerick and is the oldest rowing Club in Limerick City.
Founded in 1866 by Sir Peter Tait, the club sits on a man-made island with a back drop of King John’s Castle, St Mary’s Cathedral and the magnificent Shannon River.
It is predominantly a rowing club, but the facility encompasses and caters for other sports and clubs, mainly snooker and chess. It has two championship snooker tables where it has had the privilege of hosting an exhibition match between the great Alex (The Hurricane) Higgins and Jimmy White some years ago.
There is also have a beautiful function room which has a magnificent vista over the River Shannon and Limerick city, that can cater for private parties or events such as christenings, communions, confirmations and birthdays .
