Stop and enjoy the charming towns and the colourful villages that bead the southern coast along this route. See the ruined Franciscan Abbey in Timoleague, close to beautiful Courtmacsherry on the Seven Heads Peninsula. Take the coastal route from Roscarberry and visit the Drombeg Stone Circle. Take time to visit the Skibbereen Heritage Centre, the majestic sea water lake of Lough Hyne and picturesque Baltimore overlooking Carbery’s Hundred Isles.
Stop at the pretty harbour town of Schull and view the famous Fastnet Rock Lighthouse in the distance. Visit the Mizen Head Signal Station with its arched bridge linking the signal station to the mainland. Drive along the R591, skirting Mount Gabriel and take in the beauty of Dunmanus Bay. Return to Kinsale via Drimoleague with its Heritage Walkways, Dunmanway, birthplace of Sam Maguire and the riverside town of Bandon.
