Discover the timeless allure of Irish history and culture at Hill of the O'Neill and Ranfurly House.

Once the stronghold of the O'Neill dynasty, one of the island of Ireland’s most influential families, the Hill of The O’Neill is an ancient hill fortification with a tumultuous past of battles, power struggles and political intrigue. Visitors can explore the ancient ruins and enjoy interactive exhibits that detail the O’Neill family’s 300-year reign and how it shaped the area’s historical landscape. Afterwards, make your way to the nearby outdoor viewing tower and soak in the panoramic views of Lough Neagh, the Sperrins, the Mournes and the Cooley Mountains.

Adjacent to the hill sits Ranfurly House, a beautifully restored Victorian building that houses an array of cultural amenities and a permanent exhibit dedicated to the Flight of The Earls and the Plantation of Ulster. Originally built in the 19th century, the estate has been lovingly restored and transformed into a vibrant centre for arts, heritage and education. Its galleries showcase exhibitions celebrating Irish life, while the event spaces host award-winning performances, workshops and community gatherings throughout the year. Together, the Hill of the O'Neill and Ranfurly House offer visitors a captivating blend of history, culture and natural beauty, making them essential destinations for anyone seeking to explore the heart and soul of Northern Ireland.
