The Upper Caragh River flows through Glencar in County Kerry. It is situated approximately 12 miles from Killarney and 10 miles from Killorglin and is a famous salmon fishery which produces an average of 300 salmon a year.
The Upper Caragh River is considered one of the best salmon rivers in Ireland, getting a run of around 300 salmon a year. It has 7 beats, all of which are private to the individual angler. The riverside paths and footbridges are perfectly kept and for the most part are wheelchair accessible.
A tackle shop is available where rods, reels and flies etc can be hired. The fishery also has 15 boats and motors for hire.
