You won't want to miss this electrifying performance from Vieux Farka Touré, affectionately known as "The Hendrix of the Sahara", when he visits Dublin this October for a night at The Sugar Club.
The son of legendary Malian player Ali Farka Touré, who died in 2006, Vieux knew by the time he was in his teens that the musician's life was the one for him. Defying his parents wishes to pursue a military career, he enlisted the help of family friend and kora maestro Toumani Diabaté, who helped him to get his father's blessing shortly before he passed away.
Vieux’s self-titled debut album was released in 2007. By June 2010, he was performing at the opening concert for the FIFA World Cup in South Africa and was well on his way to becoming a worldwide sensation.
Known for his highly energised live shows and manual dexterity with his instrument, he's also a hit with audiences around the world for his ability to communicate in a whopping eight languages. Charismatic, talented, and an innovative showman, his show is one you won't want to miss. Catch him this autumn in Dublin.
