There’s something strange a-coming at the Downpatrick & County Down Railway this Halloween. Are you brave enough to visit a Graveyard on Halloween night? If so, tickets are now on sale for this year’s Halloween Scream Trains.
With ghosts on the platforms and ghouls on the train, anyone who visits on Halloween weekend is in for a double treat.
Once you board the train from the Forbidden Platform, the Scream Train will take you out to a haunted graveyard. But be warned as after you disembark, as things howl in the night and ghoulish things will rise out of the ground before your eyes!
If you survive your encounter with these ghastly - but friendly - apparitions, all children will then be granted an audience with the Great Wizard, Merlin, in his haunted lair. If those who dare to enter Merlin’s domain pass his tests, then the children will receive a gruesome goody bag. And of course, you can try to turn the tables and scare Merlin by coming in ghostly fancy dress yourself!
To add a really scary touch visitors could turn evil with some ghoulish face painting as well, which will be available at the station.
The Phantom Flyer will be dearly departing on Halloween weekend - Saturday 26th, Sunday 27th and Thursday 31st October at the Witching Hour from 17:45 for all three nights. Please check the website for details of train times. On Halloween Night there will also be a fireworks display after the last train in Downpatrick Town Centre just down from the station.
Please arrive in good time for your train – allow at least half an hour in case there’s queues. You may not be able to get on an earlier train with your ticket, so please be patient! (We will always try our best to accommodate you if you arrive too early or miss your train).
Make sure you have your eTicket or reference number with you, either on paper or on your mobile phone.
Don't forget that these are outdoor events, so please remember to wrap up well.
