Tourism NI continues its Epic Journey to The 148th Open
The community event will take place in every county in Northern Ireland, as well as Dublin, to mark the excitement and civic pride surrounding the return of golf’s most prestigious championship to Royal Portrush for the first time in nearly 70 years this July.
The Epic Journey to The 148th Open tour will include golf’s most iconic trophy, the Claret Jug along with a giant #TheOpen letter sculpture, designed by Tourism NI and made out of 4,000 golf balls, which was unveiled by global golfing hero and former Open Champion, Rory McIlroy, last October.
At each stop you’ll have the opportunity to take a photo with the replica Claret Jug, chat with local sports stars and put your pitching skills to the test. There will be a regional leader board, updated at each location, which keeps a record of the best – find out how you compare by chipping a golf ball through the ‘O’ of the 3D letters and see where you rank. There will be goody bags for the best on the day.
Capture and share your best photograph and videos of the larger-than-life 3D letters which spell out ‘#TheOpen’ on social media, along with the hashtags #TheOpen and #DiscoverNI. We’ll pick a winner from each location that the letters stop at, based on the creativity, composition and imagination displayed.
The prize is definitely worth the effort too – 2x Championship Day tickets for The 148th Open in July 2019!
The schedule for the letters is as follows:

14th March: Enniskillen Castle, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh
