Newly opened - the only Coastguard Boat House on Belfast Lough, by the sea, sleeps 5.
Located directly opposite the old Whiteabbey coal pier - which was where linen was traded from Seventeenth century up to 1930s. The Boat House offers visitors a very unique experience.
The Boat House has a slipway for visitor’s use with seating so you can watch the sea - with direct access to beach, cycle path and walk. A tidal clock is provided so you catch the low tide and explore the ruin and sea wrecks at the Boat house
The Boat house is located less than ten minutes from Carrickfergus Castle, less than 5 mins from Belfast Castle and 8 mins from Belfast City Centre. There is a train station less than a 5 min walk from the Boat House which takes you into the city centre in less than 5 mins. A bus stop is right outside (with a journey time of 20 minutes.)
The boat house is, despite its close links to Belfast city (less than 8 mins) is set in private historical row of Coastguard Cottages and is really quiet. It has its own private entrance and is detached. The owners live nearby and are on hand to help as much or as little as required.
The heritage building has kept much of its historical attributes, including a window dating from the Seventeenth Century, original beams and Boat House rigging, but with new mod-cons - new bed and sprung mattress, shower, oven, microwave and retro fridge freezer. It is all newly painted and just renovated. It will welcome its first guests on 5 December 2018.
The Boat house can sleep up to four adults plus a child under 12 in a double bed, single bed and double sofa bed.
Children staying will receive special pirate activity pack - and there is kid’s games available - but the best playground is the beach right outside the front door!
