The Story House Ireland is a not-for-profit residential writing centre inspired by The Arvon Foundation and is unique in that it provides taught residential 5 day writing courses here in Ireland, open to anyone who wishes to write.

It is built on a belief in the importance of writing as a vital part of the creative arts and aims to provide real support for developing writers of all ages and backgrounds. It provides a focus for the development of a community of writers, teaching opportunities for professional writers, and also works to “ensure anyone can benefit from the transformative power of writing”. Writing can change your life. Running nationwide in idyllic, rural settings, each 5-day residency is led by two nationally and internationally renowned writers, with a guest writer who will visit mid-week to read their work and join in a discussion about writing.

The schedule at The Story House is simple, with workshops, shared meals and one-to-one meetings with writing tutors. But you will also be encouraged to take time to be on your own to allow your creativity the necessary space to flourish. This is a time for you to slow down, away from everyday distractions, responsibilities and habits and dedicate yourself to your writing.

Food is provided throughout the course. A friendly, relaxed atmosphere is created as everyone helps themselves to breakfast and lunch. Each evening the main meal is prepared and cooked by a small team of participants - menus, recipes and ingredients are provided. This is frequently a nourishing experience on many levels for participants, as well as lots of fun.
