There is no better way of rounding off a day visiting the famous Nine Glens of Antrim.

There is no better way of rounding off a day visiting the famous Nine Glens of Antrim, than to take in Cairncastle Ulster Scots Bluegrass & Folk cross community Festival held in the Halfway House Hotel, in the picturesque village of Ballygally on the Antrim Coast Road and featuring, international bands playing a mixture of Irish, Scottish, Country and Bluegrass music.

Festival Programme Dates
This year the Festival comprises musical evenings on Thursday 26th - Saturday 28th July, cultural evenings on Tuesday 24th - Wednesday 25th July, workshops on the afternoons of Thursday 26th - Saturday 28th July and an Afternoon of Hymns and Gospel Songs on Sunday 29th July and Musical Bus Tours on Wednesday 1st August.

Performances
Musical evenings - commence on Thursday 26th in Halfway House Hotel, Ballygally with an evening of Folk Music featuring Session Beat folk band, an alternative sound bringing together a mix of traditional Scottish and Irish music played with a contemporary twist. Willie Drennan's Ulster Scots Band - will finish the night with rousing versions of Ulster-Scots songs and fiddle tunes.
The evenings continue on Friday 27th with bluegrass featuring the cream of Bluegrass Bands including Mules and Men – A four piece band having a shared love of folk and bluegrass, reinterpreting these classic sounds into a unique and contemporary style of their own. Prairie Jaywalkers will play a mixture of traditional Bluegrass and Americana.
The musical evenings closing performances on Saturday 28th July combine a Soirée of Scottish, Country & Irish featuring over twenty musicians with an international flavour, including Stewart Buchanan, The Islanders , the Knockagh Singers, and much more.

Workshops
The workshops will include a variety of interests including Fiddle manufacture, history of Bluegrass music, Ulster Scots & Irish languages and much more.

Cultural evenings – commences on Tuesday 24th in Cairncastle Presbyterian Church Hall with a mixture of old Time, Sequence & Scottish dancing.
It is followed on Wednesday 25th in Halfway House Hotel with a Musical and Dance display - featuring Cairncastle’s well-known folk band The Grouse Beaters and Knockagh Singers trio. Dance display will be provided by Scottish Country dancers, Irish dancers, Scottish Highland dancers, Indian dancers, Polish dancers and Ugandan dancers. .

Afternoon of hymns & gospel songs – will be held on Sunday 29th July at Cairncastle Presbyterian Church Hall featuring Gospel singer Crawford Bell, John Burns from Maghera, Stewart Buchanan.

Musical bus tour – takes place on Wednesday 1st August to Banbridge Town, travelling to the Outlet Shopping Centre and Banbridge town. On arrival in the town passengers will have light lunch followed by a music session, and time for shopping. Coach returns via Gilford, Portadown, Moira & Templepatrick, returning to the hotel.
