This enchanting open-air attraction in Belfast pays tribute to the Northern Irish author of The Chronicles of Narnia.
Turns out the magical world of Narnia is hidden in a little corner of east Belfast. CS Lewis Square, a lovely public space graced by seven bronze sculptures from The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, honours one of the city’s greatest literary figures. Created by Irish artist Maurice Hannon, the sculptures depict some of the book’s most beloved characters, including Mr Tumnus, Aslan and The White Witch. For fans of the novels or their film adaptations, this is a must-visit on any trip to Belfast. Ready to step through the wardrobe? As Aslan says: “Your adventure begins now.”

CS Lewis Square is located in one of Belfast’s oldest and most diverse neighbourhoods – a former industrial heartland that has been reborn as a creative hub filled with lively bars and restaurants, independent cafés and vibrant art spaces. It’s also the starting point for some of the city’s best walking trails, many of which begin and end at the EastSide Visitor Centre.
The centre is a great place to uncover east Belfast’s top attractions, things to see and do and well-known personalities that hail from the area, including football legend George Best. On the second floor, you can browse a gallery with changing exhibitions. A CS Lewis tour is also available and can be booked by email via the EastSide website.
There is a Belfast Bikes docking station at CS Lewis Square, and you can cycle here from the Titanic Quarter along the Connswater Community Greenway in around 20 minutes.
