RoolaBoola Children's Arts Festival is a fantastic festival for families. It offers the very best arts experiences tailor-made for children aged 2 to 12 years including theatre, film, workshops, music, art and lots of fun! There are a host of delights in store beginning with the exciting theatre adaptation of Irish author Oliver Jeffer's 'The Way Back Home' by Irish company Branar & Danish Teater Refleksion. It is ideal for children aged 4+ and their families. 'The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy' from Australian company Slingsby is an exquisite and enchanting piece of theatrical storytelling suitable for families with children aged 9+. Pictiúr, an exhibition of children's book illustrations by some of Ireland's finest illustrators is on show throughout the weekend, complete with free family readings. 'The Speks' will deliver a lively show of nursery rhymes and sing-along songs set to traditional Irish music which will have adults and children jumping in their seats. Add to that a film described as 'a masterpiece of French animation', hands-on workshops (including puppeteering, visual art, dance, window design, badge making), and lots more, and you've got a sense of the wonder of RoolaBoola. Watch out for a special free performance from the fabulous Wesport Children's Choir! RoolaBoola staff and volunteers will be on hand during the festival to ensure a great time is had by all.
