A true icon of avant-garde jazz, Sanders doesn't let his 75 years stop him from touring up a storm around the globe.
A true icon of the avant-garde, Pharoah Sanders emerged from the wildly prolific mid-60s jazz era as part of John Coltrane’s groups, going on to carve his own niche as a distinctive musician with enormous contributions to the genre.
Some five decades later, Sanders is still at it, touring nationally and internationally at the incredible age of 75.
Once described by fellow saxophonist Ornette Coleman as “probably the best tenor player in the world," he's known for his surprising and emotional style, which has long fused spirituality, multicultural grooves, and technical awareness with transcendent results.
From his R&B roots in Little Rock to the smoky clubs of urban America and Europe, the Grammy Award-winner with countless recordings to his name is a must-see for jazz lovers of every stripe. Don't miss his intimate performance as part of the National Concert Hall's Perspectives series this November in Dublin.
