Finnebrogue House hosts Concert on 25 May with award winning quintet Camarilla Ensemble in support of Hope for Youth NI.
This fundraiser is being held in support of Hope for Youth NI, and will comprise an hour long concert followed by drinks and canapés in Northern Ireland’s oldest undefended house.
The Camarilla Ensemble is performing at Finnebrogue House as part of their debut tour to Ireland. Winners of the Royal Overseas League Chamber Music Competition, the Ensemble comprises flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon and horn. Camarilla will play an exciting concert of classical music inspired by humour and dance with works by Ravel, Mozart, Zemlinsky and Gershwin.
Hope for Youth NI helps fund cross-community projects that enhance the lives of disadvantaged young people aged 11-18 in Northern Ireland. By giving young people a glimpse of a less fractured society - focusing on cross-community activity that fosters teamwork and creativity - especially in the field of music, art, drama and the great outdoors - Hope for Youth NI aims to help break the cycle of violence that has troubled Northern Ireland for decades.
Finnebrogue House was built in the early 1660s. The exterior is mostly original, while the interior required extensive refurbishment after a fire in 1795. It was acquired by the current owner in 2011 and has undergone a four year renovation project to bring it up to date for modern living, while restoring many of the finest rooms to their 18th century condition.
Finnebrogue remains a private house, however it regularly hosts charity fundraising events such as Beating Retreat in support of Hope for Youth NI.
