Embark on a captivating journey through time at the heart of the Viking Triangle in Ireland's Ancient East.

Set in one of the most picturesque parts of Waterford city, the Waterford Treasures Medieval Museum is a gleaming modern building with one of the most intriguing collections on the island of Ireland. Inside, the era of the Middle Ages comes to life with tales of knights and kings, interactive displays and fascinating artefacts from stone sculptures to pottery.

The tour begins in the beautifully preserved 13th century Choristers Hall and reveals a selection of exquisite works as it progresses. Catch a glimpse at the oldest view of an Irish city with the 1736 painting of the City of Waterford by Dutch artist William Van Der Hagen, a confection of sailboats, rolling green hills and waterside townhouses. Gaze at the Great Charter Roll from 1373, which features the Walled City of Waterford, and marvel at the only medieval vestments to survive in northern Europe, with silk from Florence and embroidery completed in Bruges.

Best of all, once you’re finished, you’re in a prime position to explore more of Waterford Treasures’ great museums, from the intriguing Irish Wake Museum to the elegant Bishop’s Palace.
