Visitors can participate in the 30km Challenge Walk along spectacular Causeway Coast cliff path.

Visitors to the Causeway Coast and Glens region can participate in the 30km long distance Challenge Walk along spectacular Causeway Coast cliff path.

The annual Causeway Coast Challenge Walk for 2019 is set to run again this year on Sunday 5th May. This event run by local club Bannside Ramblers is now in its 41st year of operation and continues to attract walkers from all over Ireland and further afield.

This spectacular walk commences at Portballintrae and follows the spectacular coastal cliff top path along Runkerry beach and via the famous Giant's Causeway to eventually reach Port Bradden where participants turn and retrace their steps. This takes the total distance of the challenge walk to over 30km of stunning views and scenery. The path is well marked and defined and contains a number of stepped ascents and descents totalling over 900m and crosses rocky foreshores.

Registration takes place on the day strictly between 08:00 and 09:00 at Portballintrae Village Hall, and walkers completing the event by 17:00 will receive a commemorative badge and signed certificate for their efforts.

Entry fee to cover costs is £5 for adults and £3 for under 16s.

Participants are reminded that they should bring sufficient food and water to complete the distance and also wear suitable clothing and footwear for the prevailing conditions.

Last year 298 people completed the challenge, why not make this your year to finish the Causeway Coast Challenge Walk.
