The Dublin Festival of History is a treat for all lovers of history and lovers of the city itself.

The Dublin Festival of History is a treat for all lovers of history and lovers of the city itself.

This year they have changed the format somewhat, in that their weekend at Printworks in Dublin Castle will now close rather than open the festival.

The festival, which is presented by Dublin City Council, also utilises the network of libraries around the city from Ringsend to Dolphin’s Barn for the events in its programme.

This will be the sixth edition of the festival, which has quickly become a regular fixture in the capital city’s cultural calendar. The festival comprises of lectures, panel talks, and readings from a variety of Irish and international historians. There will also be a selection of film screenings included in this year’s programme, as well as a day in the festival dedicated to young historians

Last year’s festival featured talks on everything from Tsarist Russia, to 3rd century Persia, to local Dublin lore. It has something for everybody with an interest in history.
