Westport Town Hall Theatre presents and promotes a year-round programme of theatre and arts events, workshops, and exhibitions catering for all ages. The Venue also facilitates regular group meetings, seminars and presentations throughout the year.

Westport Town Hall Theatre reopened its doors to the public in June 2015. This heritage building has undergone a significant redevelopment that has delivered a fully functional, 225-seater, modern equipped theatre with both fixed and retractable seating, flat floor level stage complete with pit-lift, flying and rigging system, not to mention extensive sound and lighting along with fully serviced dressing rooms, meeting rooms, bar, extensive exhibition space and reception area. The venue is nestled in the heart of Westport's Octagon and its mission is to provide a unique platform for all spheres of the arts and community events for locals and visitors to the town.

The Westport Theatre provides the most amenable space for key festivals such as the Westport Folk and Bluegrass Festival, the Rolling Sun Book Festival, The Gathering for Patrick Festival, Mayo Day Festivities, Spraoi na Nollag, The Festival of Chamber Music and Westport Arts Festival to name but a few. In the case of the Westport Arts Festival, the Town Hall was instrumental on many levels in helping ensure that the Arts Festival decreased its long-standing financial deficit considerably. Much of the services provided by the town hall for these events were provided voluntarily to encourage community participation and support the festivals and their events. Westport Town Hall successfully commissioned its own originally-produced resident show incorporating music, imagery, dance and theatrical performance telling the story and exploring the theories of Ireland's Patron Saint - "Patrick". This show ran for 8 weekly performances during July and August 2016 & 2017 playing to large audiences. The production is widely highlighted publicly as one that enhanced both local and visiting audience experience of the town and culture whilst also platforming the artistic talents of the shows local performers. It will return to the stage in March 2018 and again for Summer 2018.

Westport Town Hall is also delighted to have renowned Irish singer and musician Seán Keane and his band return in Summer 2018 to resume his second summer residency in the facilty after a phenomenal 10-night programme at the venue which saw many nights sold-out over July and August 2017.
