Kildare Town Heritage Centre is a popular visitor attraction that explores the fascinating history of the medieval town of Kildare. The centre also houses a tourist office for local and countywide tourist information.

Located in a restored 18th century market house, Kildare Town Heritage Centre is a multimedia exhibition centre that tells the story of Kildare, past and present. The centre is situated in the picturesque town of Kildare, an area renowned for its bloodstock industry.

Within five minutes drive of Kildare Town Heritage Centre is the famous Irish National Stud, Japanese Gardens and the Curragh Racecourse.

At the exhibition centre, a helpful virtual host—Cogitosus, a 7th century monk—takes visitors on a fascinating journey through time. An audiovisual presentation of Kildare Town takes participants on a journey from the era of Saint Brigid (who established her church in 480 AD) to later centuries that saw Kildare was raided by Vikings and ruled by Normans.

Kildare Town Heritage Centre is the ideal starting point for a tour of Kildare Town. The town and its surroundings boasts an array of well-known historical sites, all of which are enhanced by a visit to the Kildare Town Heritage Centre, ideal for all ages.
