Follow the footsteps of Poul and Lene from Gift ved Første Blik

Horse and carriage ride in Dublin

Did you see the latest episode of Gift ved Første Blik? We would like to invite you to sample some of the delights from the programme and follow in the footsteps of Poul and Lene on a romantic journey to Ireland.

Romantic Ireland

Victoria and David Beckham did it. Pierce Brosnan did it. Paul McCartney followed suit, as did Dita Von Teese & Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. Ireland has always been a wedding and honeymoon venue to the stars.

Stroll through the cobbled Dublin streets, be blown away by the beauty of the Wicklow Mountains, share stories over a pint of Guinness with the locals or snuggle up next to a cosy fire after watching the sun set and we are sure you’ll agree that Ireland is the place for you and your other half to have that perfect romantic get-away. Did you know St Valentine's final resting place is in Whitefriar Street Church in the heart of Dublin city?

When you are planning your special day, Ireland is the perfect destination for a wedding or honeymoon

Modern Irish Food

In Ireland you will never be short of mouth-watering places to eat - from sea to shore, there’s never been a better range of produce to tuck into: super-fresh oysters; extraordinary sea vegetables plucked from salty Atlantic waters; grass-fed free-range beef; homemade fudge and handmade chocolate. All of these ingredients, and basket-loads more, are being used to their best advantage by dynamic chefs all over the island of Ireland. Why not take part in a Fab Food Trails just like Poul and Lene did when visiting Dublin?

Temple Bar, Dublin

The cobbled streets of Temple Bar have more than earned its status as cultural quarter of Dublin. The maze of streets and alleys is packed with quirky attractions and venues. Admire some artwork in a gallery, catch a show at one of Europe’s oldest theatres or browse for some eccentric treats in a vintage store. Outside, the streets are always buzzing; there are so many pubs and restaurants that it may just be impossible to choose. For a traditional Irish feast, try visiting Gallagher’s Boxty House, where Poul and Lene went for a fun and romantic dinner when they visited Dublin.

Literary Dublin

Did you know that Dublin has been awarded the prestigious Unesco City of Literature title? Dublin is synonymous with such literary greats as Jonathan Swift and Oscar Wilde and James Joyce, one of the most influential and innovative writers in the English language. If you are interested in literature and history, you should not miss the Trinity College Library, which is not only historic but is also the largest library in Ireland. Set on the college campus in Dublin city centre, the library is home to 5 million printed volumes as well as the Book of Kells.

Romantic Castles

Did you know that there are more than 100 Castles in Ireland that you can visit and stay in? And some of them you can have all to yourself! Poul and Lene chose to stay in Barberstown Castle in Kildare, surrounded by beautiful lush gardens and located in one of Ireland’s official Irish Heritage Towns!
