Greenan Maze is situated in the midst of the Wicklow Mountains at the foot of the beautiful Glenmalure Valley, only 4 miles from Rathdrum and about an hour south of Dublin.
Visitors will delight in a fun filled day involving cultural education and heritage, nature and relaxation. It is a wonderful day out for all, from toddlers to senior citizens and from families to corporate tours.
Greenan Maze is a working hill farm and includes two mazes, the full sized Celtic hedge maze, growing on half an acre, is a tricky puzzle to solve, while the solstice maze is a more gentle contemplative experience.
Three museums present exhibits going back over 200 years of traditional farming life including a traditional farmhouse museum, bottle museum and farm barn with horse drawn implements.
The tranquil nature walk leads to a raised wooden walkway around the dragon fly ponds and includes an abundance of biodiversity and a wildlife haven. The walk meanders by the farm animals including bronze turkeys, hens and chicks, geese, ducks, pigs and piglets, sheep and lambs, horses, highland cows and one cheeky donkey.
The treasure hunt is a popular event and helps children lead their parents around the nature trails while the fairy tree trail for little kids is a gentle stroll and teaches young and old how to identify our native trees. The tearooms supplies home baked goodies and light lunches while the craft shop sells local arts and crafts and environmentally friendly products. Greenan Maze host giant Easter egg hunts every year, picnics and family gatherings, biodiversity tours, primary school tours, eco tours, adult group outings and corporate days out. There are plenty of picnic facilities and ample car spaces.
