Yes to love in Ireland

Cliffs of Moher

From matchmaking festivals to resplendent wedding venues, Ireland wears its heart on its sleeve.

It’s a YES. YES same sex couples can get married in Ireland. YES, Ireland boasts some of the most dreamily romantic locations to tie the knot in the world. And YES, your big day will make your heart sing.

But before we get ahead of ourselves: it’s time for an outing. Or The Outing, to be precise.

The Matchmaker

Ireland’s only remaining Matchmaker, Willie Daly, loves love. His Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival – going strong since the 1850s and held within strolling distance of the Wild Atlantic Way and County Clare’s massive Cliffs of Moher – is testament to that. As is the festival’s LGBT offshoot, The Outing (the world’s first LGBT matchmaking festival).

“An LGBT weekend away like no other”, according to drag queen and activist Panti Bliss, The Outing is a fusion of music, comedy, ceilí bands and some of Ireland’s best drag acts. But don’t forget why you’re in Lisdoonvarna in the first place. This is a matchmaking festival and you’re looking for love.

Should you find it, and should a wedding be on the cards, the below may come in handy…
