8-Day Adventure Tour on Irelands Wild Atlantic Way:
Day 1: From Cork City you will visit the beautiful town of Kinsale, the southern starting point of the Wild Atlantic Way. You will then travel into the beautiful west coast of County Cork. Today’s activity will be a hike along one of the most beautiful trails on a stunning West Cork Peninsula.
Day 2: You will wake-up in the heart of West Cork to the clear air blown in from the vast Atlantic Ocean. In the morning you will visit the small magical Garnish Island. In the afternoon, you will travel further west to Castletownbere for a cycle at Ireland’s coastal edge.
Day 3: Today you will cross from the Rebel County of Cork into the Kingdom of Kerry. You will hike in Killarney National Park through ancient oak woodland, pass breath-taking views of the Kerry Mountains and the world famous Lakes of Killarney. Tonight you are sure to enjoy the craic in Killarney town.
Day 4: Today begins as we travel west from Killarney between the Atlantic Ocean and the rolling Kerry mountains. We will call to the salty fresh-air playground of Inch Beach, then comes An Daingean, Dingle, this once quiet fishing village is now one of the best towns to visit in Ireland. Many trips to Ireland have been made for Dingle alone. In the afternoon you can choose to kayak in Dingle harbour and maybe meet Ireland’s most famous resident dolphin, “Fungi” or cycle along the splendid Slea head.
Day 5: You will travel northwards to the Banner County of Clare, where you will hike along an awe inspiring path to the spectacular Cliffs of Moher. Then visit the Burren, a World Heritage Site and close by a megalithic tomb older than Egypt’s pyramids before marching from the Banner County in to the City of the Tribes, Galway.
Day 6: From Galway you will travel to Connemara to catch the ferry out to Inis Mór - the largest of the Aran Islands. You will cycle through beautiful scenery to the Iron Age ring fort, Dun Aengus, perched on the edge of a 300-foot high cliff.
Day 7: From Roundstone you will further explore the magic of Connemara. You will travel under the Maumturk Mountains the Twelve Bens and pass along the most spectacular of Ireland’s three fjords, Killary Harbour. Then as we enter County Mayo under the shadow of Mweelrea and along the edge of Doo Lough, you will take a breather and perhaps remember the unfortunate famine victims who walked the same route over 170 years hence, before ploughing on and finishing in Westport.
Day 8: Today you can choose to climb Ireland’s sacred mountain, Croagh Patrick or take a bike tour along Ireland’s original Greenway cycle path. There is also a treat or two in store on your route back to Cork to the finishing point of the best Adventure Holiday in Ireland.
