Ballyvolane House is an historic Irish country house of extraordinary warmth, style and comfort that provides luxury accommodation and salmon fishing on the river Blackwater, located in the north Cork countryside of southern Ireland.

Ballyvolane House is not exactly a hotel, guesthouse, or a bed and breakfast, but an elegantly furnished, family owned period home, offering warm hospitality and extremely comfortable accommodation in a relaxed atmosphere of informality and friendliness.

Ballyvolane was originally a classical Georgian home built in 1728 for a once Lord Chief Justice of Ireland, Sir Richard Pyne and modified 120 years later in Italianate style. The house is situated on an estate of idyllic landscaped gardens and magnificent parkland, located in the historic region of the Munster Blackwater Valley in County Cork. Being only 30 minutes drive north of Cork City and three hours drive from Dublin, Ballyvolane is highly accessible, but still feels wonderfully remote.

The sitting room, dining room and six luxuriously appointed bedrooms have beautiful views overlooking formal gardens, parklands and trout lakes. All the guest bedrooms at Ballyvolane are spacious, individually furnished, tastefully decorated and above all indulgently comfortable, kitted out with the essential tea and coffee making facilities, WiFi, a television and a healthy selection of books and magazines. All the rooms have ensuite bathroom, some of which have beautiful, big, old antique baths.

The food at Ballyvolane is ‘country house’ in terms of style and is meticulously prepared by the house chef. The menus feature lots of good roasts, fresh and salt water fish and game in season, supported by home grown vegetables and fruit.

Salmon fishing on the Cork River Blackwater is unique. As a proud member of the Great Fishing Houses of Ireland, Ballyvolane offer eight privately owned beats, stretching from Killavullen to Ballyduff. If you prefer the smaller game of trout fishing, you can try your cast on the recently restored lakes in the parkland.

To keep little people entertained there are vast grounds to get lost in, a tree house to play in, woods to explore, hens to feed, eggs to collect, donkeys to pet and lots more entertainment nearby such as Fota Wildlife Park, Blarney Castle and Leahy's Open Farm.

Ballyvolane is also a magical setting for a wedding or a country house party.
