Loobridge Railway Station is situated 10km from Killarney and 15km from Kenmare the ideal the base for touring Cork and Kerry. Located in the heart of the strikingly beautiful Loo Valley, dominated by the Carrigadaddra and Frennagh Mountains on which one may catch a glimpse of Killarney’s famous red deer. From the house one may view the meeting of the Clydagh, Loo and Flesk rivers.

Loobridge Railway station contrast starkly with the dramatic natural landscape around it. Chiselled into a granite outcrop it adds a mysterious dimension of a time almost forgotten when man traversed unrelenting terrain with the power of steam.

Loobridge Railway Station has enjoyed a colourful history constructed in1893 to serve the newly opened Great Southern and Western Railway line from Headford to Kenmare. The original building was burned down in 1922 during the War of Independence and the current building was constructed in 1925.

The platform still present acts as a reminder that over 100,000 trains were serviced at Loobridge during its 66 years in operation until the line closed in 1959. The building was then converted into a Youth Hostel and accommodated up to 43,000 tourists eventually closing in 1999.

Today the house has been tastefully restored allowing you to step back in time whilst still enjoying all the conviences of modern living. The house boasts a beautiful kitchen/dining room, a cosy living room, a luxurious bathroom with power shower and separate free standing bath, 3 spacious double bedrooms and 1 generous twin room.
