A walking festival celebrating the Comeragh Mountains and offering walks to suite all types of walkers. A range of walks will be offered each day, some of the walks will be designed for those that want to explore as much of the Comeragh Mountains as is possible to walks that have a theme or people that wish to enjoy a day in the mountains with out too much effort.
The event kicks off on the Friday night with an introductory talk on the Comeragh Mountains and on the walks planned for the weekend. Saturday offers four different walks from the strenuous "A" walk to the more sedate "C" walk. After the walks some light refreshments will be served and you get a chance to talk to other walkers and hear about the other trails taken. Saturday Night sees our ever popular Walkers Dinner a great social event and makes the whole experience an enjoyable event.
On Sunday as well as the regular walks in the mountain we run our popular family walk which is a great way to introduce younger members to the mountains. Many of our walks are themed, following old routes across the Comeraghs which would have been taken by our fore-fathers our routes that trace historical events some modern some buried in ancient history.
Make a note in your calendar and come and participate in the Nire Valley Autumn Walking Festival.
